The charity auction will benefit the Cosmoscow Foundation for Contemporary Art. Established in 2017, the Foundation provides systematic support of contemporary art in Russia and encourages the promotion of young artists.
Established in 2014, the 'Off White' contemporary art auction is a charitable initiative of the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair. In total, over the past four years more than 70 contemporary artworks have been auctioned fetching in excess of €660,000. The fifth anniversary edition of the 'Off White' auction was held as an independent event anticipating the Cosmoscow Fair. In 2020, the 'Off White' charity auction will be held on September 11 as part of the Cosmoscow Art Fair – in Gostiny Dvor.
Thematic boundaries of the auction set by the multitude of interpretations of the words "свет/light" bring together more than 20 works spanning across two centuries and vast geography from Moscow and New York to Daghestan and Tokyo. The list of participating artists include: Evgeny Antufiev, Olga Chernysheva, Dan Flavin, Evgeny Granilshchikov, Nikolay Koshelev, Andrey Kuzkin, Taus Makhacheva, Alexey Martins, Levan Mindiashvili, Takashi Murakami, Alexandra Paperno, Denis Patrakeev, Yelena Popova, Timofey Radya, Augustas Serapinas, Alexandra Sukhareva, Mikhail Tolmachev, Mariano Vivanco, and Natalia Zintsova.
